Freelance Writing to Serve Your Business
R.C. Drews is an accomplished and passionate Minnesota writer with a strong interest in regional history and productive, effective communication. Networking with respected subject matter experts, his work succeeds in bringing captivating stories to life through tireless research and an engaging, narrative style.
Educated in Criminal Justice and a former peace officer, Drews also possesses more than fifteen years of experience in journalism and writing. His work has been produced for broadcast radio, internet publications, and tradition print media. Many of his more publicly-known works have focused on in-depth investigative reporting of crime and government issues at all levels.
Over the years, Drews has also been instrumental in developing and fundraising impactful projects that benefit the communities he serves in. Recently, his efforts have helped the Otter Tail County Historical Society to obtain a $10,000 grant used to complete background research and the writing necessary to draft a 43-page master planning document for an upcoming history on the city of Fergus Falls. Titled Founding Fergus Falls: A History, his services are presently retained for that project’s completion, anticipated by December of 2024.
Operating from Fergus Falls, RCWritesWell celebrates its ninth calendar year serving the area and providing reliable, timely, and professional writing services. Work by Drews and his company have been produced for clients regionally and internationally. Amongst other projects, Drews has worked as a leader and educator for writers in English-speaking regions beyond the United States, and he has overseen writing teams in countries as distant as Australia.
For this most recent undertaking, Drews serves in conjunction with Chris Schuelke—an expert on local history and executive director of the Otter Tail County Historical Society—to carry out the necessary work for creating a readable and relatable history to the benefit of area readers for years to come.
This undertaking will not be the first foray into local history for Drews. Aside from the fundraising and master planning document mentioned above, in February of 2018, Drews conceived and successfully partnered with the Fergus Falls Daily Journal for a special edition of the local newspaper focused from cover to cover on the former Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center. That project was intended as an engaging, educational work for the lasting benefit to the community and was well received by advertisers, readers, and the project’s publishers themselves.
